Our Turkey Hunts take place in the western foothills of Maine. Along with its beauty it holds a great population of birds. If you haven’t experienced a spring morning in Maine waiting for a turkey, who is gobbling on the roost, as the sun is coming up, then you need to make the arrangements. This is truly a great hunt for the beginner and the experienced hunter. Turkey hunting with Highland Outfitter and Guide Service is the perfect setting for the youths in your life to have a safe and productive Big Game Hunt. On an average day you will see plenty of birds but again this is hunting and there are no guarantees. You are more then welcome to do the calling or let us do the serenading.
What to Expect
A typical Turkey Hunt starts the night before when we will go out and try to “roost” a bird which will give you a great chance of getting into birds the first thing in the morning. We will set up near a roosted bird 20 to 30 minutes before legal shooting and try to call that bird into range. If that’s not successful I will have several other areas that I have spent the prior month scouting, that will have birds to work. After a midmorning coffee and snack break we will continue hunting until 12:00 noon when by state law we must stop hunting and start the process again the next morning. After the 12:00 noon cutoff time you will then have a chance to catch a nap or experience what the area has to offer or for an additional cost we can spend the afternoon fishing with our “Cast and Blast Package”. If this sounds like a great hunt to you, give us a call and we’ll make the arrangements to give you the best opportunity to bag a big Tom.
Cast and Blast Package
For an additional $100.00 per party, we can spend the afternoon fishing for bass in our fully equipped 18′ Polarcraft on a local lake or hit some small ponds with kayaks or canoes, fly fishing or spin casting for smallmouth bass.
Guardian/Parent/son or daughter Package:
This package offers an affordable, safe and quality hunt for the youth hunter and parent. During a non youth day Turkey Hunt or a Moose Hunt, the youth (under 18) is FREE. Only the adult pays. There is nothing more fulfilling then helping a kid get his first bird or Big Game. I understand what extra little things kids need to be successful and at the same time have fun. As you can see in the photos we have had great success!
