Hunting Maine Bear

In September 2010, we had the good fortune to participate in a successful archery bear hunt with Jamie and Kevin Hunt of Hunt’s End Outfitters in Houlton, Maine.

By the third morning, we had both harvested mature bears after passing several shot opportunities on smaller bears during the first two days. We saw bears on nearly every hunt and our early success was made possible through their effective guiding.

Kevin and Jamie have a thorough understanding of unique bowhunter requirements and their stand set-ups reflected great care in preparation. They placed an extra ladder stand and archery target in a convenient location near the bunkhouse and we were able to shoot a few warm-up arrows each day.  They have similar range accommodations for rifle hunters who want to verify their rifle’s zero after traveling.  Rifle hunters will enjoy an even wider range of stand locations and types.

The food and accommodations in camp were excellent.  The lakeside bunkhouses were impeccably clean, well-furnished and comfortable.  The cooking in camp was timely and delicious.

Lastly, Kevin and Jamie are genuine and friendly guides in every way.  They quickly earned our complete confidence and utmost respect during the hunt.
